We do a comprehensive assessment to determine their current skills

Assessment is a way to gather the information from a holistic view of a child and the problems they present. Once a child is referred, we do a comprehensive assessment to determine their current skills and identify goals for intervention, together with family involvement, which is an integral part.

To gather a holistic view of the child’s needs, we use a range of both standardized and non-standardized assessments, formal and informal observations, and discussions with educators and parents of the child. Assessments generally run for 1- 2 hours, during which we are able to assess gross and fine motor skills, visual skills, self-care skills and independence, handwriting and pencil grip, as well as play and sensory processing.

Most of the children’s behaviour, attention and concentration, play skills, fine motor, and gross motor skills can be associated with sensory processing, and we are highly trained to properly and professionally assess the child in this area.
